Neurokinetic Therapy

NeuroKinetic Therapy® is a sophisticated way of evaluating the body's kinetic chain, which can be used as a technique for the rehabilitation of chronic and persistent conditions.

David Weinstock, the creator of Neurokinetic Therapy, developed this technique in the mid-1980s and applied it to the rehabilitation and healing of conditions such as chronic neck and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder tendinopathy and others.

The Neurokinetic Therapy corrective movement system protocol uses a system of precision muscle testing that aims to affect the Motor Control Center (MCC) of the brain. The MCC coordinates all kinetic patterns in the body and learns through failure.

An example of how MCC learns through failure is the effort we make in childhood to stand up. Through the many attempts and failures, in the end, we succeed. We manage to stand up because the MCC chooses the best efforts until it succeeds without "thinking" about it. On the contrary, after an injury, the MCC adapts to a compensation pattern and keeps it in its memory forever, unless it is convinced to change.

A very common compensation pattern is a neck injury after a car accident. The muscle groups located on the posterior surface of the neck are overactive compared to the anterior ones, resulting in headaches, dizziness and other painful symptoms.

A trained therapist in the Neurokinetic Therapy system tests weak muscle groups and opens a window of knowledge in the MCC. Then, after restoring muscle balance in the area, the MCC "reprograms" and recognizes the entirety of muscle groups. To complete the "reprogramming", specific rehabilitation exercises are necessary to establish the correct kinetic pattern.
